In a desperate attempt to feel heard we may raise our voices but sadly that usually does not work as our partner will either attack back or retreat. Together we can look at techniques to enable you to communicate in a way that avoids conflict and promotes a greater understanding of each other.

If you wish we can meet at my counselling room in Chesham. You can also choose to have counselling via Zoom if that is more convenient for you.
I usually see clients for an hour every week but I believe it important that clients work on continuing their progress at home. With this in mind I frequently suggest things to do between sessions.
If you are wishing to have couple counselling I will see you both together for the first session. This is usually followed by two sessions where I see you separately - these sessions are confidential from your partner. After this I usually see you both together.
The first sessions are likely to be centred on learning about you and what is troubling you. We will work together to establish a clear focus of what you wish to change and how you can start to move forward to a better place.
It’s not possible to say how many sessions you will need as this depends on how complex the issues are. An average number of sessions might be around eight but this can vary enormously. Counselling should end at the point where you feel you have the confidence to continue to progress on your own.
My counselling room is on the first floor so I regret there is no access for anyone unable to climb stairs.
Fees
