The way forward
If, having read a bit about me, you think I might be the right person to help you, please give me a call. I offer a free brief telephone assessment where you can ask me any questions you may have. If you feel happy to proceed further, I charge £60 for a one hour session. If you have financial difficulties we can discuss fees.
I can be flexible about days and times. I usually see clients for an hour every week but I believe it important that clients work on continuing their progress at home. With this in mind I frequently suggest things to do between sessions.
If you are wishing to have couple counselling I will see you both together for the first session. This is usually followed by two sessions where I see you separately - these sessions are confidential from your partner. After this I usually see you both together. The first sessions are likely to be centred on learning about you and what is troubling you. We will work together to establish a clear focus of what you wish to change and how you can start to move forward to a better place.
It’s not possible to say how many sessions you will need as this depends on how complex the issues are and on your commitment to change. An average number of sessions might be around eight but this can vary enormously. It would be unrealistic to suppose that all your problems will be solved but counselling should end at the point where you feel you have the means to continue to progress on your own. It is my job to make myself redundant.
At the point of agreeing to begin counselling I will send you information about appointments, my cancellation policy and the method of payment.
My counselling room is on the first floor so I regret there is no access for anyone unable to climb stairs.
